As an interior designer based in the vibrant city of Nashville, TN, Melanie is passionate about curating spaces that transcend mere aesthetics to become a true reflection of her clients' unique visions.

Read on below to learn about Melanie’s life, perspective, and work.

Background & Career

Design was my passion long before it became my profession.

My childhood was an adventure, as my family lived in Costa Rica for one year followed by several years in Argentina. Travel became an obsession and a wonderful playground for discovering different styles of architecture. I went to high school in the Paris of South America and fell in love with the European influences of design in Buenos Aires.

I am a student of design through the process of researching and studying the personal projects that have come my way, as well as studying the work of designers and creatives I admire. As a true design romantic, the evaluation of spaces and the consideration of materials, finishes, lighting, furniture, art, and more are instinctive. Each room, facade, or view sparks a virtual mood board, flashing images that inspire and shape the creative process.

Philosophy & Approach

Each home is as unique as the individual.

When describing my design style, “collected” is a word that comes to mind, as I enjoy the process of interpreting people’s visions for their homes, which tells their stories. Each home is as unique as the individual and I do not prefer a particular style; rather I consult with them about the options they are drawn to and guide them through the process.

Balance, with emphasis on scale, textures, light and color, is a key principle in my work. I strive to achieve an organic and serene sense of harmony.

I avoid trends and focus on patterns, textures and the blending of old and new to create original compositions. I have supported local artists and strive to include art in the budget for each project. I believe that art is the icing on the cake of any project!

Alignment & Communication

The client relationship is my first priority.

Alignment between the client and me is based on clear communication of goals, budget, their vision for a space and realistic timelines. The relationship is my first priority. Often relationships build as the client brings new projects to the table. This is the ultimate affirmation and builds a deeper understanding of each clients dream for their space.

My experience as a consumer first, through various personal projects, drives my approach to each client relationship.

At the completion of a particular project, I asked my client what was their favorite part of the overall project. They thought about it, and stated that rather than a favorite object, or piece of furniture, it was the feeling experienced in the space. The space gave the client a sense of joy. That registers as success for me.
